Howl ha Loer, Cornish for Sun and Moon, promotes all forms of Cornish dance, from traditional to modern.
The group is run by Ian Bruce and Jaz Hicks (hence the duality of sun and moon) and is completely non-partisan. We just love to dance, be it set-dances in the ceilidh /troyl style, percussive / step-dance or the more modern social-dance sometimes called Nos Lowen dancing. Howl ha Loer run dance workshops on a regular basis in St Austell. These are usually organised as one night a week for 5 or 6 weeks and aim to cover all the favourite social-dances with some set and step dances. Sometimes we will even mix them all around and come up with something completely new. If you want to be kept up to date with the latest workshop dates, send us an email on the contact page. Howl ha Loer can also organise dances and/or displays for your event. Dances can be in the ceilidh/troyl style with a caller to lead the dances or the social dance style of Nos Lowen with a dance leader for everyone to follow. 29th November 2014 from 19:30 - Nos Lowen in Grampound with two of the finest Cornish music bands, Tredanek and Skillywidden. Be there, it's going to be great. |
